Restricting Authors To Their Own Articles In Joomla

A good way to build content for your Joomla website is to have multiple authors posting to the site. Many publication-type sites have dozens or even hundreds of authors contributing. So it is key that each author can only post and change their own work. It would be a major security issue if each author could access other author’s work. It’s also important that if an author leaves that you can easily close the door to their accessing your site. This video show you the steps to setting these parameters and helps you understand how this allows access to your site.

This video tutorial also shows how you can raise each user to the level of editor, which allows users to have access to author’s work for editing approval, correction and updating.

Skill Level: Beginner

This video course comes with a PDF class sheet so that you can have it to refer to while watching the video class and later when you make the changes to your Joomla website.

I haven’t visited your blog in ages, but really enjoyed this post! Makes a welcome change from the usual stuff I’ve been RSS’ing lately. Can I ask where you got the idea to write about this?

When the author submits a new article, is it also possible to restrict in which section and category it can be saved ?

Thank you, and I find you’re doing good work.

Is there a way to restrict users to seeing only certain parts of the site? Each user would have their own special page that no one else could see?
    Thanks

There are a number of 3rd party components that allow access to information based on the membership type in the user area. The Access and Security section in Joomla extensions directory will have what you need.
Having customized pages for each member is a little different. You would need membership software (also at joomla extensions) or I can recommend jomsocial to have social site with that function.
